The Swedish manufacturer Saab has a long tradition of building fighter aircraft independently, owing to Sweden’s neutrality. In the 1980s, the Swedish airforce determined the need for a new multi-role fighter to succeed the Saab 37 Viggen.

The aircraft had to be able to work in an integrated digital combat environment and handle all combat missions of the Swedish air force, in addition to being to operate from rough runways. The Saab JAS-39 Gripen has been an outstanding export success for Saab and has been exported to 6 countries. The aircraft is also in the running to replace the Belgian F-16s.
At Sanicole, you can discover a mock-up of the aircraft upclose, and talk to representatives of manufacturer Saab to find out why Gripen would be the ideal choice for the Belgian airforce.
