The International Sanicole Airshow is thrilled to welcome the flying ambassadors of the Royal Air Force back to the skies over Hechtel-Eksel on both days of the show to represent the Best of British: the RAF Red Arrows.
For over 60 years, the Royal Air Force Red Arrows have been inspiring audiences across the globe with their breathtaking precision, skill, and teamwork. As one of the world’s premier aerobatic display teams, the Red Arrows showcase the best of British aviation, performing exhilarating aerial displays that leave spectators in awe.
Flying nine fast and agile BAE Systems Hawk T1 jet trainers, the team executes their signature maneuvers with pinpoint accuracy, painting the sky with vibrant red, white, and blue smoke trails. The Hawk was a major export success and is still operational with many airforces around the world. In the Royal Air Force, it has now been succeeded by a new variant, the Hawk T2 which is slightly larger and more powerful,a side from boasting a major avionics upgrade.
You'll be sure to recognize some of their trademark manoeuvers throughout the display, like the Diamond Nine formation, a perfectly symmetrical formation demonstrating their unparalleled precision. Another crowd favoruite in their display is Tornado, with two aircraft barrel-rolling around the main formation.
The 9 display pilots and their commentator in red flight suits are supported by a dedicated, experienced team of ground support staff dressed in blue flight suits, ensuring the display aircraft are in prime condition for the display. This ground support team is also known as "the Circus".
