Swedish Thunderbolt

From the 1970s to the 1990s, the main combat aircraft for the Swedish air force was the powerful Saab Viggen (Thunderbolt). With its loud, thunderous afterburner and revolutionary double delta design giving the aircraft great manoeuvrability, it formed the backbone of Swedish air defence and strike force.

In the past we already saw the gorgeous fighter version in action at Sanicole, but this year, we’ll see the extraordinary two-seater variant. The SK-37 Viggen of the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight was used for conversion training and has a characteristic staggered canopy layout and the striking splinter camouflage, allowing the aircraft to blend in with dense Swedish forests.

Don’t miss this spectacular display over Sanicole on 15 September 2019!
