The Blue Bees, the Grasshoppers, the Blue Eagles, The Sharks, the Black Cats, the Czech Hind Trio: Over the years, several military helicopter display teams have performed at the International Sanicole Airshow. Helicopter formation displays have become rare nowadays in Europe so we are pleased to add a new team to the list for our 40th edition of our show: the Spanish air force Patrulla Aspa.
The Patrulla Aspa started in 2003 as part of the Spanish military helicopter training academy at the airbase of Armilla near Granada. All pilots in the team are flying instructors there and combine team performances with their duties as instructors.
Patrulla Aspa fly the EC120 Colibri helicopter. This type is also used by the Belgian-French military helicopter pilot training at Dax in France. The EC120 is a 5-seater which is very popular on the civilian market, often for police duties. The Spanish air force acquired 15 of these helicopters as training aircraft.
the team puts on an elegant aerial ballet combining formations with spectacular solo manoeuvres. Since a few years, the team is equipped with a smoke system which accentuates their performance. Patrulla Aspa only rarely performs outside of Spain so don’t miss their demonstration at the 40th International Sanicole Airshow!
