For many years, the Royal Netherlands Air Force captivated thousands of spectators with breathtaking displays showcasing the precision, elegance and skill of its pilot training programme. This year, visitors to the International Sanicole Airshow will have a unique opportunity to get up close to this iconic aircraft in the static park: the Pilatus PC-7.
Built by renowned Swiss manufacturer Pilatus, the PC-7 is a powerful and highly agile turboprop trainer that has played a vital role in shaping generations of Dutch military pilots. Equipped with advanced avionics and modern training systems, it provides aspiring aviators with the perfect environment to develop their skills before progressing to advanced jet trainers and operational aircraft. Following their initial training in the Netherlands, future pilots continue their journey in the United States.
The Royal Netherlands Air Force currently operates a fleet of 13 PC-7s from Woensdrecht Air Base, the heart of Dutch military flight training. As a new chapter begins, these trusted aircraft are set to be replaced by the latest generation PC-7MKX, ensuring that pilot training remains at the cutting edge for years to come.
The future of pilot training is taking shape on both sides of the border. The Belgian Air Force has also selected the PC-7MKX for its future elementary flight training programme at Beauvechain, where it will replace the long-serving SIAI Marchetti SF-260.
Don't miss this splendid opportunity to discover one of Europe's most important military training aircraft up close. The crew will be delighted to welcome you, answer your questions and share fascinating insights into the world of military flight training during the International Sanicole Airshow at Hechtel-Eksel in Belgium on 12 & 13 September.
