Get ready for something truly different at the International Sanicole Airshow 2026! One of the world’s leading air cargo companies, Cargolux, will showcase an extraordinary aircraft rarely seen at airshows in this part of Europe: the impressive AT-802 Fireboss firefighting aircraft.
Based at the airfield of Zwartberg Airfield near Genk, two of these powerful amphibious aircraft are operated by Cargolux for advanced firefighting training missions. The AT-802 Fireboss is a true multi-role specialist, capable of operating from both land and water while delivering up to 3,000 liters of water directly onto wildfire zones to support firefighters on the ground.
Despite being flown by just a single pilot, these remarkable aircraft are deployed around the globe in demanding aerial firefighting operations. With an endurance of approximately three hours and the ability to scoop and deploy water rapidly, the Fireboss is an essential weapon in the fight against wildfires.
In cooperation with a local flight school, Cargolux uses the Zwartberg facilities to train pilots in specialized firefighting operations. Amphibious training flights take place near the Belgian-French border, while additional missions are conducted directly from Zwartberg, whose infrastructure and permits are perfectly suited to host these spectacular aircraft.
Don’t miss your chance to experience the rugged beauty and surprising size of the AT-802 Fireboss up close in the static display park at the International Sanicole Airshow 2026 in Hechtel-Eksel on 12 & 13 September 2026. A rare appearance, an extraordinary mission, and an aircraft guaranteed to capture the imagination of every aviation enthusiast!
