In Greek mythology, Daedalus was a skilled architect and craftsman, seen as a symbol of wisdom and knowledge. Transferring knowledge and honing skills is the aim of pilot training, so Daedalus is a perfect name for the Hellenic air force demo team on T-6 Texan II, the aircraft used in Greece for advanced pilot training.
This capable and elegant aircraft is a turboprop built by the American company Beech, but it is actually a derivative of the Swiss Pilatus PC-9M. It is a modern training aircraft that is used in many countries around the world. Its demonstration includes all aerobatic manoeuvers that trainee pilots should master before progressing to the next stage in their careers, and ties these together in a graceful and tight routine.
This will be the second time this display team visits Belgium since its inception in 2005 at Kalamata on the Peloponnese peninsula. With its excellent performance, the T-6 Texan II follows in the footsteps of the legendary World War II T-6 Texan which trained countless allied pilots with great success. This type is also used to train Belgian pilots in the United States so there is also a strong link with our country. Moreover, it is a candidate to succeed the well-known Marchetti SF-260 of the Belgian air force.
Don’t miss this elegant demonstration and mark the International Sanicole Airshow in your calendar on 13 & 14 September 2025.
