Team Thunder aerobatic team
The Sanicole Sunset Airshow will see another debut act on Saturday evening 13 September. It’s a familiar face from northern Europe, but with another display than the glider performance we admired from him ten years ago: Experience the electrifying performance of Team Thunder, Sweden's premier aerobatic team.
This renowned team was co-founded by world champion Johan Gustafsson and seasoned pilot Jonas Larsson. Debuting in 2022, this dynamic duo showcases a breathtaking display featuring the Thorp T-18 and the Laser 230 aircraft. Their shows are a masterful blend of high-energy aerobatics and dazzling pyrotechnics, captivating audiences across Europe.
The Thorp T-18 is a homebuilt, two-seat light aircraft designed in the early 1960s. It is an all-metal, low-wing monoplane that has gained popularity among amateur builders due to its simple yet robust design. The Laser 230 is a high-performance aerobatic aircraft designed for advanced aerobatics and competition flying. It is a development of the Stephens Akro series, which later inspired the famous Extra 230 and 300 series of aerobatic planes. Quite a legacy!
Team Thunder performs graceful loopings and barrel rolls in close formation during first part of their display, before they split up to showcase the excellent performance of both aircraft. Bright LEDs and colourful pyrotechnics accentuate their magnificent display even more.
Don't miss the debut of Team Thunder's aerial artistry at the Sanicole Sunset Airshow at Hechtel-Eksel and discover fist-hand why this team is so popular.
